31 Days of Prayer for Revival - Day 31

“We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives.” (2 Corinthians 4:7, The Message)

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14–16)

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. (Colossians 1:9–12)

Prayer is one of the main disciplines of the Christian faith. It is a means which God uses to carry out His will. In prayer, we are drawn into deeper dependence upon God and learn more and more of our need for Him and His grace. James 5:16 says that the prayers of a righteous person have great power, and Scripture commands us to pray. The more we pray for the Church, the more we can expect God to use our churches to impact the world with the gospel.

The Church is the only society that exists for the benefit of those who are not its members.”

Archbishop of Canterbury, William Temple

Pray:

Come, Holy Spirit. Please show me how to be the salt and light that this dark world so desperately needs. Help me find creative and practical ways to accomplish this, and use me to push back the darkness around me. Heavenly Father, please fill me with a hunger to pursue You. Show me clear next steps I can take and give me the motivation to take more steps each day. Lord God, I pray for a great outpouring of Your Spirit; an outpouring that would awaken Your Church and awaken vast numbers of people outside of Your Church to Your truth, love, redemption, purpose and Your inspired Word. Have mercy on us, Lord. Draw us closer to You. Transform our character to be like Jesus, for the sake of the world and the Name of Jesus. Amen.
