31 Days of Prayer for Revival - Day 30


“In each heart’s imagination, / In the church’s adoration, / In the conscience of the nation, / Hallowed be thy name” (Timothy Rees, 1874–1929).


“Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.” (2 Corinthians 4:1)


Pray:

Dear Lord God, the world is in such great need of You, to be filled with Your Spirit; the family to place You in the center of family life; the Church to honor You, submit to You, follow You, worship You, teach Your Word; the political and law enforcement at every level to come to a deep understanding of their lead in living in honesty and utmost integrity and how that lead affects the people under them. I ask You, Father, send Your Holy Spirit in power on every family, every congregation, every politician and law enforcement officer. Lord, please send revival to this world for which Your Son died and rose again. Show me, Father, what I need to do, what I need to change in me, or allow You to change in me, that I would be more faithful to You and Your life would move more fully out into the world. Open my eyes, my ears, my mouth to see, hear and speak You. Come, Holy Spirit, bring revival beginning with me. I pray this in Jesus Name. Amen.

What's with "Lent"???

This coming Sunday’s readings assigned through the Revised Common Lectionary will have us reading the first 17 verses of John chapter 3. That passage includes what is perhaps the most well known verse, John 3:16 which reads in the English Standard Version as “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (I do wish the publishers of the Bible would return to the practice of capitalizing the pronouns used to refer to God, in all references to any of the members of the Triune God.) So the important question becomes, “What does it mean to ‘believe’?” The word “believe” comes from a word that can (and perhaps should) be translated as “trust.” So the phrase containing the word “believe” in John 3:16 could read, “whoever trusts in Him…” Many, in my humble opinion, have an understanding of the word “believe” that is not very Biblical. The word “trust” in many if not most cases will likely convey the truth see

NEW STUDY & Sermon Series begins Sept. 1

Dr. John Nyhan will begin a five week series on Sept. 1, 2019 on the Biblical foundations of our U.S. Constitution. Fr. Nyhan has done extensive study on this topic and will share his insights on the historical foundation of this most important of documents. It will help us not only in living out our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but also some practical ways that our faith impacts the country as a whole. Fr. John will cover this in both Adult Education which begins at 9:00 a.m. and this topic will be further covered in his sermon at the 10:00 service.
