31 Days of Prayer for Revival - Day 26

31 Days of Prayer for Revival - Day 26

“A wise king winnows the wicked” (Proverbs 20:26)

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” (Proverbs 19:20)

“there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad... But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.” (Romans 13:1–4)

Today we continue our prayer for revival progressing through the levels of government. We focus today on Governors and state legislatures. We know the previous prayers prayed for political leaders can apply at all levels of government, and perhaps some of those petitions should be used at all the levels of government. This prayer below was gleaned from the World Vision site. It is too good and complete not to share!

Pray:

Heavenly Father, just as you gave wisdom to Moses to appoint elders among the Israelites, you blessed our founders with the wisdom to divide our country into individual states. You have empowered our governors and state legislatures to make laws and decrees which manage our daily lives, make our lives safe, and protect us from federal government overreach. We pray for our governors and our state legislatures. Please give strength and wisdom to them and guide their decisions and may they always put love first. Surround them with people from all walks of life and many backgrounds. Bring to them people of high moral character and spiritual maturity. Among the many voices which cry out to them every day, may they hear Your voice above all others. As we look to our governors for assurance and guidance, especially at times of crisis, inspire them and speak through them by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask this in the strong Name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
