31 Days of Prayer for Revival - Day 29


“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions,” (1 Timothy 2:1–2 ESV)


This past week we have concentrated on our nation and the world at all levels of civil leadership, from the highest office of the nation to the local township leaders, as well as law enforcement. Now, let us recap in a summary prayer. 


Pray:

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit we lift up our prayer. We thank you for Your great desire to have men and women who love You, Lord God, in places and positions of authority in the communities and countries in which we live. We lift to you the President, Vice President, US Senators and Representatives, state Senators and Representatives, County Commissioners, City Council members and local law enforcement officers. So fill them with Your Spirit that they become more, much more, able to assess what direction to take, what needs to be done, in every situation they face. Increase in them discernment, wisdom, knowledge, courage, increased ability to correctly communicate, honesty, purity and forthrightness in all their dealings. Through these men and women, bring righteousness to greater manifestation across the world. Through them, thwart the machinations of evil. Deliver them and us all over the world from the grasp of the devil. Bring true Holy Spirit empowered revival to our land, for Your glory, Father, and for the life of the world. I ask this in the Name of Your Son our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

What's with "Lent"???

This coming Sunday’s readings assigned through the Revised Common Lectionary will have us reading the first 17 verses of John chapter 3. That passage includes what is perhaps the most well known verse, John 3:16 which reads in the English Standard Version as “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (I do wish the publishers of the Bible would return to the practice of capitalizing the pronouns used to refer to God, in all references to any of the members of the Triune God.) So the important question becomes, “What does it mean to ‘believe’?” The word “believe” comes from a word that can (and perhaps should) be translated as “trust.” So the phrase containing the word “believe” in John 3:16 could read, “whoever trusts in Him…” Many, in my humble opinion, have an understanding of the word “believe” that is not very Biblical. The word “trust” in many if not most cases will likely convey the truth see

NEW STUDY & Sermon Series begins Sept. 1

Dr. John Nyhan will begin a five week series on Sept. 1, 2019 on the Biblical foundations of our U.S. Constitution. Fr. Nyhan has done extensive study on this topic and will share his insights on the historical foundation of this most important of documents. It will help us not only in living out our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but also some practical ways that our faith impacts the country as a whole. Fr. John will cover this in both Adult Education which begins at 9:00 a.m. and this topic will be further covered in his sermon at the 10:00 service.
