Liturgy of the Word

Processional Hymn All stand. The people of God sang as they approached the Temple for worship. The procession helps us remember that coming into the presence of God is an

First Reading Exodus 12:1-14 (ESV)

     1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.

     7 “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts. 10 And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. 11 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord's Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.

     14 “This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a feast.

Psalm 149 (ESV)

Praise the Lord!
1 Sing to the Lord a new song,
    his praise in the assembly of the godly!
2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
    let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!

    making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
    he adorns the humble with salvation.

Second Reading Romans 11:1-10   (ESV)

    1I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” But what is God's reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

     What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, as it is written,

“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
    eyes that would not see
    and ears that would not hear,
down to this very day.”

And David says,

“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
    a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
10 let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
    and bend their backs forever.”

If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Nicene Creed We respond to the Word of God read and expounded by stating aloud an ancient form of confessing our belief.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father, Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic1 and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Offertory Hymn We offer to God in thanksgiving for all He has done for us by giving generously to the work of His church and towards the furthering of His Kingdom.

privilege of joining Him in His work.

Birthday Prayer (when needed): (Come to the altar rail after the ushers bring forward the alms basins).

The Great Thanksgiving

        At the Last Supper, Jesus commanded His disciples to remember Him in this fellowship “meal.”

        People baptized in the Trinitarian form who discern the presence of Jesus in the Bread and the Wine are welcome to receive Holy Communion. A gluten free wafer is available upon request.

Almighty God, Owner of all things, we thank You for giving up Your only Son to die on the cross for us who owe You everything. Pour Your refreshing Spirit on us as we remember Him in the way He commanded.

On the night that He was betrayed He took bread and gave You thanks; He broke it and gave it to His disciples saying, “Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

People     Amen. His body was broken for us.

Then the Celebrant continues

In the same way, after supper He took the cup and gave You thanks; He gave it to them saying, “Drink this, all of you; this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

People     Amen.  We are brothers and sisters through His blood.
                                    We have died together.
                                    We will rise together.
                                    We will live together.

Then the Celebrant continues

Therefore, heavenly Father, hear us as we celebrate this covenant with joy, and await the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He died in our place, making a full atonement for the sins of the whole world, the perfect sacrifice, once and for all. You accepted His offering by raising Him from death, and granting Him great honor at Your right hand on high.

People     Amen. Jesus is Lord.

Spiritual Communion (said by all)

O Most blessed Savior,
in union with the faithful at every altar of Your Church
where Your blessed Body and Blood are being offered to the Father,
I desire to offer You praise and thanksgiving,
I present to You my soul and body with the earnest wish that I may

always be united to You.

I believe that You are truly present in the Holy Sacrament.
And since I cannot now receive You sacramentally into my heart;
I unite myself to You and embrace You with all the affections of my soul.
Let me never be separated from You.
Let me live and die in Your love. Amen.

Come, Lord Jesus, and dwell in the fulness of Your strength,
in the perfection of Your ways, and in the holiness of Your Spirit,
and rule over every hostile power within me in the might of Your Spirit,

The Celebrant continues

Let Your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. This is the feast of victory.

People             The Lamb who was slain has begun His reign. Hallelujah!

People             We share one bread.

Celebrant        Draw near with faith.
People             Christ is the host and we are his guests

Celebrant:      As Jesus taught us, we now sing,

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours, now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

The Celebrant breaks the consecrated Bread.

A period of silence is kept.

Celebrant:       Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
People:            Therefore let us keep the feast.
Celebrant:       The Gifts of God for the People of God.
                        Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your                             hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.

                        Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. 

When you come forward for communion if you would like the consecrated wafer only, please stay in the center of the aisle and Fr. Andy will give you the wafer only.  If you prefer to receive the wafer dipped in the chalice of
consecrated wine, please go to the right or left of Fr. Andy to receive the wafer dipped in wine.

The ministers receive the Sacrament in both kinds, and then immediately deliver it to the people.

The Body of Christ, the bread of heaven. [Amen.]
The Blood of Christ, the cup of salvation. [Amen.]

Here is a list of items needed, or you may donate and someone will purchase items on your behalf: Small toys such as small balls, slinkys, dolls, matchbox cars, etc. Crayons, color books, school supplies, brushes or combs, socks, flip flops, tooth brushes, soap (bars only), baby wipes, washcloth, crafts or activities books, toy stuffed animals or doll babies, sunglasses, hair bows. These are most of the things bought for boxes in the past.

No candy, food or any liquids of any kind and no toothpaste.

Prayer Meeting Via Zoom

Join us online each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. for a Prayer Meeting! We need to pray for the Church, the nation, and the world!  With our physical distancing needs, we can still join together in prayer using this medium.

We’ll pray for one hour. If you can’t join in on this Zoom call, but will commit to praying sometime during the week for 1 hour, please DO LET ME KNOW what hour you will be praying.

You may access this Zoom meeting a bit before 7:00 p.m., but we will start our prayer time promptly at 7:00 with just the most brief of announcements that may be needed. Our first Prayer Meeting will need to have a few instructional comments first.
