The people standing, the Celebrant says:
Celebrant The Lord be with you:
People And also with you.
Celebrant The earth is the Lord’s and all that is
in it:
People Let
the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad.
Celebrant I was glad when they said to me:
People Let
us go to the house of the Lord.
Celebrant Praise the Lord:
People The
name of the Lord be praised.
Celebrant Let us pray:
People Almighty
God, you bring to light things hidden in darkness, and know the shadows of our
hearts: Cleanse and renew us by your Spirit, that we may walk in the light and
glorify your name, through Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, Amen.
Summary of the Law
Celebrant:
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Hear, O
Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all
your strength...You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other
commandment greater than these.” (Mk. 12:29-31)
Gloria
Sung by all.
Glory
to God in the highest, and peace to His people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship You, we give You
thanks, we praise You for Your glory.
Lord
Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the
sin of the world: have mercy on us; You are seated at the right hand of the
Father: receive our prayers.
For
You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most
High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Celebrant: The
Lord be with you.
People: And also with
you.
Celebrant:
Let us pray.
Collect Prayer of the
Day Prayed by Celebrant. We
“collect” our acclamations, corporately proclaim a truth about God and ask His
help in living out that truth.
First
Reading Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20 (ESV)
1
And God spoke all
these words, saying,
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods
before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved
image, or any likeness of
anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is
in the water under the earth.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for
the Lord will not hold
him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it
holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your
work,
12 “Honor your father and your
mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against
your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's
house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or
his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your
neighbor's.”
18 Now when all the people saw the
thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the
mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far
off 19 and said to Moses, “You speak to us,
and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.” 20 Moses said to the people, “Do not fear,
for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that
you may not sin.”
Reader: The
word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to
God.
Psalm 19 (ESV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all
the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out
like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they
than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also
from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the
meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord,
my rock and my redeemer.
Second Reading Romans
12:1-21 (ESV)
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is
your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of
your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what
is good and acceptable and perfect.
3 For by the grace given to me I say to
everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the
measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many
members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body
in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the
grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our
faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one
who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation;
the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal;
the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is
evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly
affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be
fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in
tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints
and seek to show hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and
do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who
weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do
not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own
sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give
thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on
you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but
leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine,
I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry,
feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you
will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome
evil with good.
Reader: The
word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to
God.

Gospel Reading
Matthew 21:33-46 (ESV)
Reader: The Holy
Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew.
People: Glory to You, Lord
Christ.
33 “Hear another parable. There was a master
of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a
winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went
into another country. 34 When the season for fruit drew near, he
sent his servants
to the tenants to
get his fruit. 35 And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed
another, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants, more than
the first. And they did the same to them. 37 Finally he sent his son to them, saying,
‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they
said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have
his inheritance. 39 And they took him and threw him out
of the vineyard and killed him. 40 When therefore the owner of the vineyard
comes, what will he do to those tenants?” 41 They said to him, “He will put those
wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants
who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never
read in the Scriptures:“
‘The stone that the
builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
this was the Lord's doing,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of
God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its
fruits. 44 And the one who falls on this stone will be
broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees
heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. 46 And although they were seeking to
arrest him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a
prophet.
Reader: The
Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You,
Lord Christ.
Sermon Fr.
Andrew Doan
Nicene Creed We respond to the Word of God read and
expounded by stating aloud an ancient form of confessing our belief.
We believe in one God, the Father, the
Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the
only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from
Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the
Father, Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came
down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the
Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius
Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in
accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and
the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,
the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father
and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic1 and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for
the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life
of the world to come. Amen.
1”catholic” means for all
people, in all places, at all times

raising Him from death, and granting Him great honor at Your right hand on
high.
People Amen. Jesus is Lord.
Spiritual Communion (said by all)
O
Most blessed Savior,
in union with the faithful at every altar of Your Church
where Your blessed Body and Blood are being offered to the Father,
I desire to offer You praise and thanksgiving,
I present to You my soul and body with the earnest wish that I may
always be united to You.
I believe that You are truly present in
the Holy Sacrament.
And since I cannot now receive You sacramentally into my heart;
I unite myself to You and embrace You with all the affections of my soul.
Let me never be separated from You.
Let me live and die in Your love. Amen.
Come, Lord Jesus, and dwell in the fulness
of Your strength,
in the perfection of Your ways, and in the holiness of Your Spirit,
and rule over every hostile power within me in the might of Your Spirit,
and to the glory of Your Father. Amen.
Blessed, praised, and adored be Jesus
Christ on His throne of glory in
Heaven, and in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
The Celebrant continues

are very members incorporate in the mystical body of Your Son, the blessed
company of all faithful people; and are also heirs, through hope, of Your
everlasting kingdom. And we humbly beseech You, O heavenly Father, so to assist
us with Your grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all

Closing Hymn “Our God Reigns” Hymnal #372

Our Father’s God, to
Thee, author of liberty, to Thee we sing:
Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King!
The Deacon, or the
Celebrant, may dismiss the people with these words
Let us go forth into the world, rejoicing
in the power of the Spirit.
People Thanks be to God.
Bible verse for this
week:
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious
about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body,
what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than
clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather
into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value
than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span
of life?”
